Polen ziet twee nieuwe commerciële luchthavens, in de buurt van Warschau en in het zuidoosten, openen in 2012 voor ongeveer drie miljoen
passagiers per jaar.
Luchthavens hopen low-cost luchtvaartmaatschappij trafficA aan te trekken vanwege de buitengebruikstelling van het afgedankte militaire
luchthaven in Modlin daterend uit 1939, een dertig minuten pendelen met de speciale trein naar de hoofdstad, zal openstaan voor voornamelijk goedkope luchtvaartmaatschappijen en op tijd voor de Euro 2012 voetbalkampioenschappen, die in juni begint.
Een gloednieuwe luchthaven zal ook worden geopend in de herfst in de buurt van Lublin in het zuidoosten van het land.
Odivelas luchthaven Lublin "wordt ingesteld om een miljoen passagiers per jaar uit in de hele regio Lublin op te nemen," zei de
CEO Grzegorz Muszynski een verklaring.
Modlin beoogt om twee miljoen passagiers per jaar door de aankomst en vertrek lounges te krijgen en pakt de verslapping op door de
sluiting van de low-cost luchtvaartmaatschappij 'Etude' van Warschau Chopin airport.

Modlin aims to get two million passengers a year through its arrivals and departure lounges and will take up the slack left by the closure of the low-cost airline based 'Etude' at
Warsaw's Chopin airport.
